Roofing Systems
All types of Roofing Systems
We specialise in all types of fibreglass construction and installations for flat roofing, balconies, bay window tops and valley guttering. All perfectly designed and expertly fitted to complement your home or premises, whether modern or traditional. We undertake all kinds of roofing projects for commercial, industrial and domestic customers and we enjoy finding effective solutions for difficult applications – such as specially shaped bay window canopies or balconies. A GRP roof is a single-ply GRP laminate applied in situ over a good quality deck. The roof is finished with pre-formed GRP edge trims and a coat of pre-pigmented topcoat which comes in grey as standard but can be in most colours to match the surroundings.
When GRP is used to construct a boat, GRP will provide complete waterproofing protection for the boats entire lifespan (circa twenty years plus), without the need for maintenance or replacement. This same level of performance is easily replicated on a domestic roof and surprisingly for not much more than the traditional 3-ply felt flat roofing system.
A properly laid fibreglass roof (also known as GRP Roofing), will last for at least 20 years with no measurable deterioration. The roof must be laid onto a dry deck in dry conditions at a temperature not below 5°C. The resins and top coats should be suitable for use in GRP Roofing.
This guide relates only to the application of the GRP laminate and top coat. Typically two men can strip, re-deck, laminate and top coat a roof of about 20 square metres in one day. Always try to plan starting the roof when a settled period of weather is forecast.
